Chicago Auto Show Kicks Off: Runs through President's Day

101st edition of North America's oldest auto show

By Bill King
The 101st edition of the Chicago Auto Show opened to the public this Friday 13th following two days of media events. Staged by the Chicago Automobile Trade Association since 1935, what's billed as the "oldest and largest auto show in North America" dates to 1901 at the Chicago Coliseum. McCormick Place is the current host venue.

Coming on the heels of the big shows in Paris, LA and Detroit, the Chicago show nonetheless puts on a positive face despite so many of the new models introductions having been made earlier. Most of those new models and concept cars are being displayed by the 43 presenting marques at McCormick Place.

One significant introduction was saved for Chicago - the Ford Taurus SHO. In addition, Kia chose the Chicago show to introduce the Forte compact sedan.

The show runs through President's Day. Check out our photo gallery below for some of the more interesting and significant vehicles on display.
