New Presidential Limo Debuts: First official duty for the Cadillac Beast

Dubbed

By Bill King
The outgoing chief executive and the president-elect were chauffeured aboard a brand new Cadillac Presidential Limousine along the 1.7-mile parade route from the White House to the U.S. Capital Building where Barrack Obama will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.

The first Limo, nicknamed "The Beast", is a completely new design from Cadillac, succeeding the 2004 DTS. Since the 1930s, GM's Cadillac and Ford’s Lincoln have provided all of the presidential limousines.

Given the connectivity that's associated with the new Chief Executive, the Beast is fitted with a quite functional mobile office. The greenhouse is much more upright with better outward occupant visibility. Presidential Seals adorn the rear seat back and each rear interior door panel and on the outside of the rear doors. The Stars and Stripes fly from the right front with the Presidential flag mounted on the left front when the President is aboard. At night on-board spotlights illuminate the flags.
