You know it's a strong field when an all-new, brilliant and beautiful Jaguar sedan comes in fifth. Given points for style, it's first for being fresh. When it comes to sensual shapes, Jaguar (and Aston Martin!) can show the Italians a thing or two.

The XF uses the engine, transmission and suspension design of the XK, so it has the heart and soul of a sports car, but it's really the gentleman's car of this bunch. Another $15k gets the 420hp supercharged XF, for non-gentlemen who like to blow doors off.

The ride is smooth and stable, on a new stiff chassis. It's the heaviest and least nimble of our five here, but still great in corners. Good 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, too bad it's not programmed to obey like in the supercharged XF. The stability control intrudes a bit early, cutting the throttle, but it will save you in the rain.
