5 clean diesels: The future is now

These cars will change the way you think about the once lowly diesel

Acura TSX i-DTEC
Base Price: $28,960 - $32,060 Combined Mileage: N/A

When the chief executive officer says something is going to happen, it's going to happen. In January, 2008 Honda CEO Takeo Fukui said the company's new i-DTEC clean diesel would be introduced on an Acura-brand vehicle in 2009. Honda is developing a clean diesel for the European-spec Accord, a vehicle marketed here as the Acura TSX. It doesn't take a crystal ball to say the 2010 Acura TSX will be available in late '09 with a diesel engine. Look for it to be a turbocharged 2.2-liter four cylinder. A difference between the Honda/Acura clean diesel and most others: It won't need the urea injection to meet NOX emission standards. At least that's what Fukui-san said.
