New York Auto Show Top 5

The New York Auto Show featured a spectrum of conveyances from the PUMA concept from Segway and GM to the mind-boggling $1.2m McLaren SLR 722 GT full-race version supercar.

For this New York feature, we sought important vehicles for this evolving world market.

Limited to five, we had to bypass several worthy candidates. Honda's FCX Clarity concept with its intriguing fuel-cell technology was voted World Green Car of the Year. Others include VW's Golf GTI, gobs of performance in a small package; Mitsubishi's intriguing i-MiEV electric vehicle soon to come stateside; the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, performance jewel of the new E-Class; Ford's European sales star Fiesta soon to be imported to the U.S.; Subaru's PZEV-certified Legacy; and the latest of the iconic Z-cars, the 370Z Roadster.
