Like the Corolla it has a smaller engine, 1.8 liters, but makes 140 horsepower like the 2.0-liter Sentra. However its torque is lowest of the 5, so you have to rev it more, especially to maintain momentum uphill. But you'll get 26/34 mpg with the standard five-speed gearbox (that is a bit rubbery) while an optional 5-speed automatic ($800) boosts the mileage to 26/35, matching the Corolla.
